Quote of the Day: Cooking as Science Too!
"The kitchen's a laboratory, and everything that happens there has to do with science. It's biology, chemistry, physics. Yes, there's history. Yes, there's artistry. Yes, to all of that. But what happened there, what actually happens to the food is all science." ~ Alton Brown, Food Network TV Personality
The Raven's View
Now, I've described before how cooking is fine art, but it also happens to be very much so scientific in nature! I recently stumbled upon the Food Network TV Presenter Alton Brown's amazing show called Good Eats, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cooking programs to watch. It is singularly one of the most unique cooking shows I have ever seen, with a masterful blend of science, history, humor, and innovative recipes all presented within a short half hour. I highly recommend it - watching this show always transports me to a food lab of sorts, and I find myself transfixed as I follow along an incredibly entertaining yet informative cooking journey. I couldn't agree more with Alton Brown's viewpoint - cooking is indeed science, even if not exact, and just as different chemical elements combine to form complex compounds, so does the combination of varied raw ingredients transform into a sophisticated culinary masterpiece!
