Quote of the Day: Culinary Therapy

"Cooking and baking is both physical and mental therapy." ~ Mary Berry, British Food Writer & Television Presenter

The Raven's View
I couldn't agree more with this famous food writer and presenter of the highly popular show, The Great British Bake-Off. I find cooking as therapeutic as taking a nice, long walk in nature, meditating, or any other similar activity that has a calming and relaxing effect on one's mind, body, and spirit. It is so easy to get lost in the daily and seemingly never-ending hustle and bustle of our present-day hectic lives, but taking the time to engage in activities that help you unwind and rejuvenate is crucial for maintaining a sense of balance. Culinary therapy (in addition to retail therapy 😉) is definitely high up on my list of relaxation/self-care routine. Cooking, at its very fundamental level, requires a high degree of concentration and is a great way to take your mind off your daily worries, cares, and concerns, even if only for a paltry 30 minutes. Far from being just another tedious item on your household chore to-do list, cooking can undeniably confer numerous benefits. After all, cooking is one of the best expressions of love, and what better way to practice self-love than to schedule some time to cook up a warm, homemade meal!
