Quote of the Day: Repetition and Reinvention
"Give two cooks the same ingredients and the same recipe; it is fascinating to observe how, like handwriting, their results differ. After you cook a dish repeatedly, you begin to understand it. Then you can reinvent it a bit and make it yours. A written recipe can be useful, but sometimes the notes scribbled in the margin are the key to a superlative rendition. Each new version may inspire improvisation based on fresh understanding. It doesn't have to be as dramatic as all that, but such exciting minor epiphanies keep cooking lively." ~ David Tanis, Chef & Author

I found this quote from Chef and Author David Tanis very fitting as our highlight of the day today as there is so much I agree with and couldn't help but share! It pretty much speaks for itself...When it comes to cooking, whether home-based or professional, there is no doubt that repetition and reinvention are absolutely key! Practice does indeed make perfect in the culinary arts world and often subsequently leads to new recipes or variations of traditional recipes. In addition, every cook brings a distinctly unique background and set of experiences to the cooking process so even when provided with the same ingredients, results inevitably and amazingly tend to differ from one cook to another. So don't be afraid to keep working repeatedly on the same recipe and don't fret if the results of a recipe you have followed to the letter vary from time to time - you never know, it just might lead to a whole new invention that's truly groundbreaking and just as delicious 😊!
