Happy July🌞! Hope you are all taking the time to enjoy the glorious sunshine and soak in the warmth. Continuing with our Summer series with these beautifully vibrant, colorful, and absolutely delicious Maqui Berry Muffins as our star dish for the month. If you're looking to infuse some natural purple goodness and a splash of bright color into your home dessert menu, I highly recommend taking the plunge and adding this unique and highly nutritious berry to your kitchen pantry.

As a lover of all things purple and in the spirit of experimentation and adventure that we always embody here at the Food Raven Kitchen, I was curious to try out this wonderful new flavor in a simple baked dessert. I had recently randomly come across the amazing maqui berry - it is native to Chile and comes naturally loaded with powerful antioxidants. It is often sold as a freeze-dried powder made from grinding whole berries and can be added to smoothies, juices, desserts, or even enjoyed directly as a tasty and healthy snack. I absolutely loved it from the first bite - the deeply purple color is distinctly beautiful and the fruit has a wonderfully rich, earthy flavor with well balanced bitter-sweet notes. For this scrumptious and aromatic dessert, I used my Blueberry-Lemon Muffin recipe as a base template and made some substitutions accordingly to incorporate this new fruit flavor as the signature component of the dish.
